You’ve got a good thing going. Don’t screw it up.

One day does not a trend make. This I know but it’s easy for me to get a
little excited over the day I’m having today.

I started the day unhappily by not getting much sleep last night. My son
decided to have a few nightmares and, when we allowed him in our
bed, decided to practice Kung Fu.

When it was time for me to get up I stepped on the scale. That will do
wonders for your self esteem at 4am. This is when the day started getting
good. I went through a quick series of questions in my head.

Why does the scale say that? *Because you’ve been lazy, you eat like crap
and to say you exercise sporadically is an optimistic statement.*
What are you going to do about it? *Option A: eat away my misery and
continue to be uncomfortably “comfortable” in my own skin or, Option B:
Quit eating like crap and get some excercise.*

Then I made a few excuses. Well, I need to be home early tonight for Family
Home Evening. *That’s a pitiful excuse. Pack a bag and if things are quiet
sneak away for an hour and work your fat ass off.*

I don’t have a lot of readily accesible and packable healthy food options. *You
may be surprised to learn that there is a grocery store right next to the
gym. You can work out and then go grab some healthy portable foods at the
grocery store. They have these new things called fruits and vegetables that
were genetically designed to be edible in their raw state. Pretty cool, huh?
*

But it’s cold outside. *It’s 40 degrees. Get your ass on the bike and ride
to work. That way you at least get 20 minutes of exercise. Besides you
enjoyriding your bike.
*

After that discussion I had a bowl of oatmeal (Hooray!) got on my bike and
road to work. I had a productive morning and managed to slip away to the
gym to have a bit of a sweat. I then went to the grocery store and
purchased foods for a healthful lunch.

The goal now is to maintain throughout the night and not gorge myself upon
the delightful pretzel chips from Costco that I know are stored away in the
cupboard.
